The Adamy Valuation team ventured to North Beach Park in Ferrysburg, MI to host an Adopt-A-Beach cleanup effort. Partnering with the Alliance for the Great Lakes, the team combed the beach for plastic and other refuse on a bright and clear day. Careful attention was given to recording the types and quantity of litter collected to aid in the Alliance’s research on microplastics and other litter in the Great Lakes.
Firm Volunteer Outing: Beach Cleanup
Adamy Valuation supports employee volunteerism and commits to at least one firm outing a year. “We appreciate living in communities near the Great Lakes and this is our way of thanking those who keep our communities beautiful places to live and work,” said Meg Post, a Director with the firm.
Every year nearly 22 million pounds of plastic flow into the Great Lakes, with much of it washing up on the shoreline and beaches. Adopt-a-Beach volunteers aid in keeping beaches clean and pick up over 18 tons of plastic pollution from the Great Lakes every year. The most common items found are food wrappers, cigarette butts, and bottle caps.
